If you've never tried a Parkrun..............

This weekend I took park in my first ‘home’ park run of the year and my 3rd of 2019.  After a hard 10 miler last weekend and a steady recovery week the legs were feeling ok so always good to get a park running go see how my speed is coming along after the winter season.  This was the first time I had run at Carlisle since achieving my 50th PR on Christmas Day so I got to proudly wear my red T shirt.  It is the summer course now so wanted a decent run to test my speed.  I got a bit blocked at the start in among the 292 other runners but after moving up on the grass I was happy with a 7:15 min/mile then a 7:09 for mile 2 and 7:06 for mile 3.  So really happy with my pacing and Heart Rate was not too high but I did feel heavy legged going up the hill for the last time so not fully recovered from the previous  Sunday.  I did recognise a couple of Denton Holm runners that ran the 10 miles and they must have been feeling it as well because we are normally close but I managed to overtake both on lap 2.  Overall happy with my pace for April.  My sister Hilda joined my for her first Carlisle PR and put in a good performance, since starting running with the beginners group last year she has completed 26 Park runs at 3 different locations a PR tourist.
