Crooked Road challenge looms

The next fixture in the Seniors' Winter League is on 13th February in the form of the Crooked Road 4.5mile run near Beattock.  This is another challenging course with its steep climb for the first part of the race followed by a thigh burning descent.  Hopefully conditions on the day will be relatively benign, it is understood that some parts of the course near the top have been prone to flooding but that some remedial work has been done to try to address this - in any event runners are recommended not to wear their smartest road trainers.  (Anyone seeking guidance on footwear choice should consult the mountain goats who regularly recce the route in the dark!)

The course record is held by Mark Whitelaw from 2006 with a time of 29.27 and last time out Mark was first home in 32.38. The ladies'course record was set last year by Barbara Dawson in 40.00.

The race will have a handicapped start at 10.30am from the speed limit signs close to the roundabout off the M74 Beattock/Moffat junction.  All welcome!
