George takes 1st Vet 70 in Carlisle 10km Series

Carlisle City 10k series 2017

Veteran ADAC runner, George Fraser headed south on Sunday 27th August to line up with some 250 runners to take part in the Sport In Action 10k. The race started and finished in Carlisle’s Bitts Park and took in park paths and quiet country roads. George ran a steady race and his time of 59:52 was good enough to ensure first place in the male vet 70 category ahead of his two age group rivals. Just as important as his first place finish was the fact that this result gave George first place n the Carlisle City 10k series in his age group.

This is the third year of this series, well organised by Sports In Action. This series started in January with the Carlisle Resolution 10k and was followed by further 10k races in May and June. The lowest 3 scores out of the 4 races decided the series winners. George competed in January and June and his result last Sunday just edged out his nearest rival.

George's success followed that of fellow ADAC runner, Andy Render who won the series in 2016 in the male vet 40 category.

Since January, George has crossed the border and been successful in his age group in Carlisle Resolution 10k, Cross Border Challenge, Montane Trail 10 and Hadrian’s Wall half marathon. All wearing his ADAC vest.
